About Snoring

Snoring is something that happens because your throat muscles relax too much while you’re sleeping. These muscles support the soft tissues that line your throat. As a result, the tissues come into contact with one another. While you breathe, the tissues vibrate against each other, resulting in the creation of noise. What is this noise? We call it snoring.

Why Am I Snoring?

You may need treatment for snoring for a variety of reasons. For instance, carrying extra body weight may place added pressure against your airways. Anything that relaxes your throat muscles can contribute. Artificial relaxants like sleeping pills and alcohol will make you sleepy but they will also over-relax your muscles. If you have upper respiratory problems, this may contribute to difficulty breathing during sleep.

What Is Treatment Like?

Treatment for snoring is quite simple and fortunately, quite effective. We may suggest some simple changes you can make to your daily life to assist in preventing snoring from occurring. We may also suggest you wear an oral appliance (a comfortable mouth guard) during sleep to keep your air passages wide open.
